As many coaches do, Butler’s Chris Holtmann checks Ken Pomeroy’s website (kenpom.com) for statistical analysis of his team and others. When he did so early this week, he noticed Butler had a 14 percent chance to beat Villanova. Later, it was 12 percent.
“So what’s that movie line? I guess you’re saying we have a chance?” Holtmann said.
He did not drop the mike.
But dropping college basketball’s No. 1 team Saturday would do more than enhance the Bulldogs’ resume. It would be their first win ever over Villanova and signal that Butler – which is 4-1 in the second half of the Big East schedule – is capable of an NCAA tournament run.
