Butler gets first Big East tournament win on late tip-in

NEW YORK – The jinx is over. Butler’s march to the NCAA tournament continues.

Because Kamar Baldwin. Because Tyler Wideman.

Baldwin scored a career-high 32 points, and Wideman tapped in Baldwin’s miss with four seconds left to propel Butler over Seton Hall 75-74 in a quarterfinal of the Big East basketball tournament Thursday night.

The Bulldogs, who had been winless in four previous trips to this tourney, almost certainly secured an NCAA berth with the victory.

Butler (20-12) will play No. 2 seed Villanova (28-4) in a semifinal at 9 p.m. Friday.

Mikal Bridges scored 25 points and Jalen Brunson 21 for the Wildcats, who defeated Marquette 94-70.
