INDIANAPOLIS – Butler welcomed back Bo Hodges and Christian David on Saturday.
But what Butler needs is shooters, and that is not really their game.
Indianapolis native Paul Scruggs scored 24 points, and Xavier held off the Bulldogs 68-55 in Big East basketball at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
It was the first game in 20 days for the Musketeers (11-2, 4-2). They built a 20-point lead that Butler trimmed to four before pulling away again.
Butler shot 34%, including 20% (5-of-25) on 3-pointers. The Bulldogs had only eight assists on 23 field goals.
Xavier shot 51% and was 10-of-20 on 3s.
