Roosevelt Jones scored 16 of his 20 points in the second half, and Butler built a 17-point lead before holding off Seton Hall 85-78 before a raucous crowd of 7,392 Wednesday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
It was the second frenetic finish in five days for the Bulldogs, who lost a 13-point lead in the final 2 minutes at Georgetown before winning 90-87 in overtime Saturday.
The Bulldogs (20-9) climbed over .500 in the Big East for the first time all season at 9-8. Seton Hall (21-8, 11-6) is in the Top 40 of every college basketball ranking, so this victory was important for Butler’s NCAA tournament resume.
