Two truths can be deduced from Butler’s summer recruiting efforts. The Bulldogs are:
>> 1, Scouring the country in a bid to follow a strong 2016 recruiting class with a comparable one for 2017.
>> 2, Really, really trying to bring in a point guard.
Although Butler has long been portrayed as the small-Indiana-school-that-wins-big, that characterization has been untrue for several years. The “Hoosiers” mythology was not applicable in 2010 – five starters on the first NCAA runner-up team represented four states – and is certainly not now.
Butler, a private university now belonging to the Big East, has a brand that resonates more nationally than it once did.
