INDIANAPOLIS – Butler University has submitted a bid to be site of college basketball’s National Invitation Tournament semifinals and championship game in 2023 and 2024.
The NIT, held in New York’s Madison Square Garden since 1938, is ending its run there after this month. The news was first reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Last year’s NIT finals were at North Texas because of COVID-19 restrictions.
Las Vegas is reportedly among other sites being considered for the NIT’s final two rounds. Games in the first three rounds of the 32-team tournament are at campus sites.
