Butler basketball's Saturday Big East road game at UConn has been canceled because of COVID-19 issues within the Huskies program. The conference announced the news Wednesday shortly before tipoff of Butler's Big East opener against DePaul.
UConn’s Tuesday game at Xavier was called off for the same reason.
This is Butler's second Big East road game canceled, as the Dec. 23 trip to New York was called off because of St. John's COVID issues.
The Big East is charged with rescheduling games, not the schools. There is a prohibition on back-to-back days or on playing three games in successive weeks.
