INDIANAPOLIS – Although Jayden Taylor and Simas Lukosius both exceeded expectations, Butler did not win enough for them to be among those honored by the Big East.
Taylor, a former Indiana All-Star from Perry Meridian, and Lukosius, a 19-year-old Lithuanian, were snubbed by coaches in voting for the conference’s all-freshman team announced Sunday.
No. 9 seed Butler (13-18) faces No. 8 seed Xavier (18-12) in the first game of the Big East tournament Wednesday at New York.
Three of the six members of the all-freshman team were chosen unanimously: Creighton’s Ryan Nembhard, 11.3 ppg; Georgetown’s Aminu Mohammed, 13.
