St. John’s punished Butler at the end of the first half and beginning of the second, shooting 61% in a 91-57 blowout Friday night in Big East basketball at New York’s Carnesecca Arena.
It was St. John’s first Big East victory by 30 or more points since 1999. The 91 points were the most allowed all season by Butler and 27 more than the average.
Butler had won two in a row and four of seven. The three defeats had come by a collective seven points.
This was the antithesis of that. The outcome was more reminiscent of last month’s 82-42 loss to Villanova, which handed the Bulldogs their worst defeat in 28 years.
