PORTLAND, Ore. – On Thursday, Butler coach LaVall Jordan said the Butler team who played Texas was not its best version.
But on Friday, in a narrow 71-69 win over Portland State?
“From an attitude and a mindset standpoint, that was us. Just tough. Forty minutes, every possession,” Jordan said. “That was who we are. That was who we want to be more consistently.”
And it wasn’t merely because of an inferior opponent. Portland State, who started the year 4-0, closely competed with No. 1 Duke on Thursday.
On Friday in the PK80 Invitational, Butler held a nail-biting lead for the duration of the second half.
