WASHINGTON – Butler recovered from a near-epic collapse and came back to beat Georgetown 90-87 in overtime in Big East basketball Saturday.
The Bulldogs led 77-62 with 3 1/2 minutes left in regulation. Kelan Martin scored six of his 18 points in the OT period.
Kellen Dunham led Butler with 29 – the most he has scored since Nov. 28 – but was an uncharacteristic 7-of-12 on free throws. Roosevelt Jones scored 18 before fouling out.
Missed free throws, notably by Martin and Dunham, allowed Georgetown to rally from a 15-point deficit and send the game into OT.
