RALEIGH, N.C. – Kellen Dunham hit often and Kelan Martin hit late, propelling Butler past Texas Tech 71-61 Thursday in the first round of college basketball’s NCAA Midwest Regional.
The ninth-seeded Bulldogs (22-10) advance to play No. 1 seed Virginia (26-7) or No. 16 Hampton (21-10) in the round of 32 Saturday.
Texas Tech finished 19-13 in its first tournament appearance since 2007.
Butler is 9-1 in opening NCAA tourney games since 2001.
