INDIANAPOLIS — The charter flight carrying Butler’s basketball team from New York lost cabin pressure Thursday night, creating perilous moments in which players and coaches weren’t sure if they would survive.
“When you’re not sure, quite honestly, whether your life is in the balance or not, those can be some difficult moments,” coach Chris Holtmann told IndyStar. “We tried to talk through that as a group.”
The 13th-ranked Bulldogs were supposed to return to Indianapolis after a 76-73 loss to St. John's but had their flight diverted to Pittsburgh. The plane landed there, and the traveling party stayed in a hotel overnight.
