Best medicine for ailing Butler defense — better offense, please

INDIANAPOLIS – Butler’s defensive shortcomings have been obvious. Florida shot 54 percent and Georgetown 52 percent, and the Bulldogs fell behind by 37 and 16 points, respectively.

The Bulldogs could have ameliorated all that by making a few baskets.

“If you’re getting stops, you can get out and run,” forward Sean McDermott said. “If you’re scoring, you have time to get back and set your defense, and they’re not running down your throat. They go hand in hand.

“What we pride ourselves on is the defensive end.
