Butler’s oversized college basketball roster is going to get smaller.
JaKobe Coles, a 6-7 forward coming off an abbreviated freshman season because of injury, has entered the transfer portal.
Because the Bulldogs’ four seniors are all coming back – they are allowed to do so after an NCAA waiver during the pandemic – the roster of scholarship players had increased to 16. Without Coles, that becomes 15.
Eastern Michigan forward Ty Groce transferred to Butler, which also has three incoming freshmen in Pierce Thomas, Jayden Taylor and D.J. Hughes.
Minutes will be difficult to distribute for LaVall Jordan, who is entering his fifth season as head coach.
