INDIANAPOLIS – Butler did not play like the 26-point favorite it was supposed to be.
But the Bulldogs overcame poor shooting from the arc and used Kamar Baldwin’s 26 points to beat Detroit Mercy 84-63 Monday night in college basketball at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
The game was an Indiana homecoming for Detroit’s Mike Davis, who coached IU’s Hoosiers from 2000-06 and led them to the '02 NCAA championship game.
It was the Bulldogs’ 45th consecutive nonleague home victory, the third-longest active streak in the nation. Butler (2-0) is home again Friday night against Mississippi (1-0). Detroit is 0-3.
