INDIANAPOLIS – Greg Malinowski does not jump off the scouting report. The transfer from William & Mary was Georgetown’s No. 6 scorer with a 5.8-point average, making 14 3-pointers all season.
However, Malinowski ruined Butler’s Big East basketball opener Wednesday night, scoring a career-high 26 points in an 84-76 victory that ended the Bulldogs’ nine-game home winning streak.
The Hoyas built a 17-point lead with less than 3 minutes left before an 11-0 flurry pulled Butler within 79-73 with 1:21 left.
The Hoyas (11-3) shot 12-of-22 on 3-pointers, featuring 6-of-7 by Malinowski. Jesse Govan added 17 points.
