3 reasons Butler basketball lost to Seton Hall: Dawgs offense sputters — again

INDIANAPOLIS – No. 22 Seton Hall smothered Butler’s sputtering offense in long stretches and came away with a 71-56 victory in Big East basketball Tuesday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Many of the 7,234 fans filed out of the arena with Butler trailing 63-54 and 1:28 left to play.

Over two seasons, Butler has trailed by 10 or more points in 27 of 38 games.

Bryce Golden scored 19 points for Butler (8-5, 1-1). Jared Rhoden led Seton Hall (10-3, 1-2) with 17.

Butler pulled within five early in the second half and had a chance to trim the margin to four under the six-minute mark.
