3 reasons Butler basketball beat Villanova, 101-93

INDIANAPOLIS – It happened. Again.

Butler made 15 3-pointers, shot 60 percent and repelled a rally to knock off a No. 1 Villanova team for the second time in 12 months, winning 101-93 Saturday before a raucous Hinkle Fieldhouse sellout of 9,244.

Kelan Martin scored 24 points and Paul Jorgensen a career-high 23 for the Bulldogs, who are off to a 2-0 Big East start for the first time in five years in the conference. Kamar Baldwin added 19 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

Butler (12-3) could climb into the Top 25 next week for the first time all season.
