When the dream to play college basketball became a reality for D.J. Hughes, he thought of playing somewhere far away. Maybe somewhere with a beach and palm trees.
But the more that Hughes, a 6-8 Lawrence North junior, went through the recruiting process, the more he liked the idea of staying close to home.
“When I got the chance to visit Butler, the times that I did, I got a chance to see how they play and see how the coaches coach and everything that was there,” Hughes said. “The energy there was really cool. I started to like the idea of maybe being a ‘hometown hero’ type of deal.
