The Clarets’ Under-23s are at Crewe Alexandra this afternoon looking to go top of the table.
Steve Stone’s in-form side stretched their unbeaten run to eight games with last Friday night’s 2-2 draw at West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League Cup.
And a point at Crewe will be enough to take Burnley above Leeds United to top spot in the U23 Professional Development League’s northern division.
Crewe – who were beaten 3-2 by the Clarets at Curzon Ashton at the start of October – are currently fifth in the table but are in good shape themselves and would go above Burnley with a seventh successive victory.
