It would not have been a day that Mohamed Salah looked back on with much fondness. He hates it when a game passes without him scoring, particularly when officials are involved.
Salah looked as if he had taken another step closer to history when he rifled a first-time shot past Nick Pope but VAR had other ideas and, correctly, chalked it off. It made no difference to the final outcome, with Liverpool winning 2-0 but, nonetheless, Salah would have been stewing.
The irony of that, however, is the unanimous consensus around Anfield was that Salah had been majestic, a key reason in why Liverpool's start is unblemished.
