Sunderland 0-0 Burnley: Premier League duo headed for unwanted replay after stalemate

Sunderland and Burnley will meet again at Turf Moor a week on Tuesday after cancelling each-other out in an underwhelming clash at the Stadium of Light.

Both teams named strong sides but it was an uneventful first half, Sam Vokes coming closest for Burnley after being set free by Scott Arfield. Jack Rodwell was the home side's biggest threat, firing narrowly wide on two occasions.

Rodwell went close again shortly into the second half as his piledriver from the edge of the box forced a smart save from Nick Pope. It was Burnley, however, who came closest as James Tarkowski's header from a corner cannoned back off the post.
