Scott Parker's first match as Burnley manager was one to savour as fellow Premier League cast-offs Luton were well beaten on their own turf last night.
Goals from Josh Brownhill, Wilson Odobert, Dara O’Shea and Vitinho ensured it was a satisfying debut for Vincent Kompany’s replacement in the dugout.
Luton have not beaten Burnley for 24 years and Rob Edwards’ side only briefly looked like stopping that run when Tahith Chong made it 2-1 early in the second half.
Edwards gambled on full league debuts for youngsters Joe Johnson and Zack Nelson and it was the latter who chased Brownhill in vain as the Burnley captain fired his side ahead in the sixth minute.
