Promotion-winning defender Ryan Cooney has moved up the M66 to join the Claret ranks.
The former Bury youngster – who made 29 first-team appearances for the Shakers – has signed an initial 12-month deal with a further one-year option.
And he will start out as part of Steve Stone’s Under-23 squad as their second new arrival so far this summer following the earlier arrival of former Curzon Ashton defender Joel Senior.
Manchester-born Cooney – a right-sided defender or wing-back capable of playing across the back four – came through the youth ranks at Gigg Lane before signing a first professional contract with Bury in October, 2018.
