Newcastle defender Ciaran Clark is out of the Republic of Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Austria next month through injury.
The 27-year-old missed out with a knee problem as the Magpies clinched the Championship title on the final day of the season, and has not been included in Martin O'Neill's initial 37-man squad for the friendlies against Mexico and Uruguay and the Group D showdown with the Austrians.
Captain Seamus Coleman continues his recovery from the double leg fracture he suffered during the 0-0 draw with Wales in March and midfielder David Meyler is also sidelined by knee damage, but there is a first senior call-up for Burnley defender Kevin Long.
