Tony Philliskirk’s side fell to a 3-1 defeat at Watford’s training ground this morning (Saturday) in the U18 Professional Development League.
U16 striker Michael Mellon gave the Clarets the lead just after hour mark, before two quick-fire Watford goals gave the hosts the advantage.
And the home side had a third in stoppage time, after countering on Burnley’s late attacking pressure.
The visitors started well and could have taken the lead just 15 minutes into the first-half, as Mellon cushioned a lovely ball into the feet of Mitch George, who picked out Rhys Fenlon out wide, to cross for Mellon at the back post, as the striker was a whisker away from breaking the dead-lock.
