Steve Stone’s side remain unbeaten in the U23 Professional Development League, after a 2-2 draw with Colchester United at Florence Park.
First half goals from Ali Koiki and first-year scholar Lewis Richardson gave the Clarets a 2-0 lead at the break, but United hit back through a Michael Fernandes penalty and equalised from a Jake Hutchinson strike with eight minutes left.
It took just 13 minutes for the Clarets to take the lead on a scorching afternoon at United’s training base, as Rob Harker’s close-range strike was parried by Bailey Vose into the feet of Koiki, who slammed home the opening goal of the afternoon.
