Mellon, son of former Claret Micky, nodded in Ben Woods’ corner in the second half, to ensure Burnley shared the honours in a 1-1 draw with Turkish side Altinordu in the group B clash of the CEE Cup last night (Friday).
The striker started the match up-front alongside Mitch George and Michael was one of three 15-year olds amongst Tony Philliskirk’s side starting line-up.
Despite the Clarets falling behind in the fourth minute, Mellon rose highest in the box from Woods’ corner and drew the scores level just five minutes into the second half.
The former Manchester United forward said: “It feels so good, especially with it being my debut for the U18s, to score just makes it extra special.
