Steve Stone wants his players to grab the initiative in a bid to keep their Premier League Cup hopes alive.
The Clarets’ U23s take on leaders Bournemouth at Curzon Ashton on Friday afternoon (kick-off 1pm) in search of their first win in Group C of the competition.
And Stone will be looking to go on the attack as Burnley try to avenge a 7-1 defeat to the Cherries on the south coast and add to the points they picked up in their other two games so far.
“We got beat 7-1 down there – admittedly they had some first-team players – and we’ve drawn at West Brom and at Liverpool with 10 men,” said the U23s’ boss, whose side is bottom of the group on goal difference.
