Steve Stone’s side return to Curzon Ashton this afternoon, as they host Barnsley in the U23 Professional Development League.
Burnley can go top of the table with a win over the Tykes, which would also see Stone’s side extend their unbeaten run to 13 matches in all competitions.
The Clarets drew 1-1 last time out at Wigan’s DW Stadium, where Lewis Richardson struck for Stone’s side.
Barnsley currently sit sixth in the table and won 5-3 in their last match, at home to Birmingham City.
When the two sides met last season, Josh Benson was amongst the scorers in a 4-1 victory at the Tameside Stadium and the midfielder is keen for his side to secure all three points again today and hopes history repeats itself, as the former Arsenal man looks to get off the mark for this campaign.
