Adam Phillips confessed his pride in leading U23s to victory this afternoon (Tuesday), in a 2-1 win over Barnsley at Curzon Ashton’s Tameside Stadium.
Despite conceding an early goal from a Tykes set piece in the seventh minute, Burnley hit back through a Lewis Richardson brace in the second half, as the Clarets extended their unbeaten run to 12 matches in all competitions this season.
And Phillips, who stepped in as captain to replace role of the ill Anthony Glennon, believes the sides’ team management to hang on and secure all three points is a great attribute to have in the arsenal, as the visitors applied late pressure on a crisp afternoon in Ashton-under-Lyne
The former Liverpool youngster said: “I feel like in the first-half we didn’t really get going, it was a sloppy goal to give away from a set-piece.
