Lift off for Vincent Kompany. After 29 wins on the way to the Championship title last season his Burnley team secured their first in the Premier League at the seventh attempt thanks to a late goal by substitute Jacob Bruun Larsen.
It was a strike to break Luton’s hearts. The home team had gone behind to a goal by Lyle Foster in added time at the end of the first half but summoned a spirited response and levelled through sub Elijah Adebayo in the 84th minute.
They thought it was enough to extend their run to three games unbeaten and stay clear of their visitors but Larsen won it for Kompany and Co with a brilliant curler, cutting inside from Burnley’s right flank.
