Jamie Redknapp insisted Luke Shaw was fortunate to escape with just a booking for a 'dangerous and reckless' challenge on Johann Berg Gudmundsson and that VAR got it wrong despite taking over five minutes to make a decision.
Referee Kevin Friend initially allowed play to continue when Shaw flew into a 50-50 with Gudmundsson during the first half - despite incensed appeals from Burnley players - and the hosts almost got a red card themselves moments later when Robbie Brady brought Edinson Cavani down outside the box.
Brady was the last man in defence and mistimed his challenge to thwart a threatening attack from United, which prompted VAR to take a look at the possible red card after he was just given a caution.
