Jon Flanagan chose to join Burnley on loan after being told he would have limited first team opportunities at Liverpool this season.
Flanagan developed into an important player under Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool put together an unexpected title challenge in the 2013-14 season, ultimately finishing second. The 23-year-old would suffer a knee injury that summer, taking 619 days to appear in a Liverpool shirt again.
With a lack of game time on the table at Anfield this season, Flanagan admitted he agreed to a move to Turf Moor in the hope that he would play Premier League football.
