Rangers have told Joey Barton he can return to 'full-time training' following his eight week exile from the Scottish club.
However, it is understood the midfielder will be limited to training with the club's Under-20s squad, and will not be permitted to rejoin manager Mark Warburton's first-team group.
The 34-year-old was banished from the club back in September after a training ground row in the wake of their 5-1 derby defeat to Celtic.
Barton, who missed eight games during his exile, repeatedly said he wanted to return and fight for his place at the club, despite apparently falling out with manager Mark Warburton and team-mate Andy Halliday.
