'I hold my hands up... I’m sorry': Granit Xhaka apologises for his Burnley howler after Arsenal fans had slammed his 'grotesque, inevitable mistakes' following awful pass which gifted Chris Wood a bizarre equaliser

Granit Xhaka has issued an apology on social media for his embarrassing mistake which cost Arsenal a potential three points at Turf Moor.

The Swiss midfielder gifted Burnley the most bizarre of equalisers with an error following a complete mix-up with goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

Arsenal were leading 1-0 through a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang goal but a seemingly innocent passage of play at the back soon led to Mikel Arteta's side gifting an opportunity for Burnley to stage a comeback.

Xhaka received the ball from Leno under pressure in his own box, and the 28-year-old smacked an attempted pass straight at Clarets striker Chris Wood.
