Sheffield United have warned Sander Berge that the star midfielder faces a season spent in the stands if he does not leave or sign a new contract.
Berge is expected to finalise a move to fellow newly promoted side Burnley in the coming days for as little as £12million.
Mail Sport understands the Norway international, who joined the Blades for £22m three years ago, was open to remaining at Bramall Lane for their first campaign back in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old has, however, been told by the club’s hierarchy that they plan to make him unavailable for selection if he stays and does not commit his future.
