The pressure continues to mount on Ronald Koeman's expensively assembled Everton side after they put in a poor performance at home to Burnley.
Sean Dyche's Clarets were comfortable throughout, and deservedly scored when Jeff Hendrick completed an excellent team passing move by slotting past Jordan Pickford from 15 yards out.
Everton desperately tried to get on level terms - with Wayne Rooney, dropped to the bench, introduced after an hour - and put heavy pressure on the away goal, but Burnley held on.
