Sean Dyche felt the Clarets were the victims of a clinical Liverpool side as they became the Reds’ 13th successive premier League victims.
A fortuitous own goal from Chris Wood, who deflected an intended cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold, broke the deadlock following an even opening half hgour at Turf Moor.
Within minutes Sadio Mane had doubled the Merseysiders’ lead – and a third close to the end from Roberto Firmino sealed Burnley’s fate.
“I think the scoreline was harsh because there wasn’t that much in the game at 0-0,” mused Dyche.
“It’s tough against these top sides, but the energy and the organisation was good.
