The Clarets have moved to make sure Jeff Hendrick stays part of the plans at Turf Moor after securing the services of the Ireland international for a further 12 months.
Hendrick’s existing contract was due to expire at the end of the current season.
But Burnley have activated an option for an additional year’s stay for the former Derby County midfielder.
Dublin-born Hendrick, 26, has made 91 appearances for the Clarets since signing from the Rams at the end of the 2016 summer transfer window.
He started 29 Premier League games last season to help Sean Dyche’s side finish seventh in the Premier League to qualify for Europe.
