Burnley striker Andre Gray charged with misconduct by the Football Association for posting homophobic tweets dating back to 2012

Burnley's Andre Gray has been charged for homophobic comments posted on social media which date back to 2012.

The Football Association confirmed they had charged the 25-year-old on Tuesday, despite the striker quickly apologising when his Twitter comments were revealed.

Gray, who scored in Burnley's victory over Liverpool last Saturday, called for homosexuals to be ‘burned’ in one of a number of vile social media postings. Gray was with non-League Hinckley Town at the time with the FA moving quickly to show their disapproval of the striker's comments this week.
