Burnley have sent on-loan Danny Drinkwater back to Chelsea after a troubled spell with Sean Dyche's men.
Former Premier League winner Drinkwater had hoped to get more minutes on the pitch after heading up to Turf Moor, but he has played just twice for the claret and blue and created headlines after being attacked on a night out in Manchester in September.
The 29-year-old linked up with Burnley in a loan deal in August, but he will return to Stamford Bridge when it expires on January 6.
Ahead of Burnley's FA Cup third-round tie with Peterborough on Saturday, Dyche confirmed that Drinkwater would be heading back to west London.
