Burnley boss Sean Dyche challenges his squad to step up in the absence of Robbie Brady after serious knee injury threatens to end midfielder's season

Sean Dyche has challenged his Burnley squad to find the silver lining in Robbie Brady's season-wrecking injury.

The Republic of Ireland international suffered a torn patella tendon in a collision with Leicester's Harry Maguire and, though the Clarets have not confirmed his campaign is over, a six-month layoff is expected.

That is frustrating news for player and club, with Brady a key creative outlet and dead-ball specialist in Burnley's rise to seventh in the Premier League table, but Dyche wants others to step forward in his absence.

Scott Arfield is the most obvious stand-in on the left flank, with full-back Charlie Taylor representing a wildcard option, and a tactical switch is also possible should Dyche wish to accommodate an extra attacker.
