Burnley appoint Salford's Casper as academy boss

Burnley have appointed Salford City director of football Chris Casper as their academy manager.

Casper departs after eight years with the Ammies, during which he oversaw their academy and development system.

The 49-year-old, who was born in Burnley and is the son of club legend Frank Casper, was part of Manchester United's famed 'Class of '92' academy and went on to manage Bury after his retirement from playing.

His 19-year-old son, goalkeeper Charlie, is also on Burnley's books.

"It's a privilege to be here - it's my hometown club, I grew up in the town and to be part of the club now is absolutely fantastic," he told the Burnley website.
