Burnley needed a penalty shootout to overcome League One opposition MK Dons to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Cameron Jerome headed the visitors into the lead midway through the first half after a great cross from Scott Fraser.
MK Dons held onto the lead until the dying moments of stoppage time in the second half, as substitute Matej Vydra popped up with a 94th minute equaliser to send the match to extra time.
