Sean Dyche had declared himself in favour of the Video Assistant Referee ahead of its Turf Moor debut. ‘I’m a big fan of the system in theory,’ said the Burnley manager.
‘It’s about finding out the good, the bad and the ugly - and hopefully there’ll be more good than bad.’
Twenty minutes into this one and Dyche was regretting those remarks as he found himself furiously pacing up and down the touchline, remonstrating to anyone who’d listen about English football’s latest VAR confusion.
