Brighton have made enquiries about Middlesbrough winger Marcus Tavernier.
The Premier League side, who will resume their season next month against Arsenal, have followed the England U20 international for over a year and are ready to firm up their interest with an offer once the transfer window opens.
Watford, Crystal Palace and Burnley have also discussed the 21-year old who has made 32 appearances for Jonathan Woodgate's side this season and scored twice.
Indeed, Boro moved to secure him to a new three and a half year contract in January with Woodgate citing the youngster as a key performer for the club, saying: 'He was a player I was keen to get tied up as soon as we could because of what he brings to the team.
