Ryan O'Reilly scored his first two goals of the tournament on Monday, and neither of them went in off his stick. That's just how things are going right now for Canada, who continued their dominant start to the 2016 IIHF World Championship with an 8-0 victory over Belarus in St. Petersburg, Russia.
With Canada shorthanded and nursing a 2-0 lead in the first period, O'Reilly angled his skate to deflect a 2-on-1 pass from Boone Jenner into the net for his first goal. He struck again 1:26 into the third period, this time dishing the puck toward the net-front and seeing it deflect in off the skate of a Belarus defenseman to extend Canada's lead to 6-0.
