Among dozens of historical milestones, Wieland watched Floyd Smith and Jean Beliveau take the opening face-off at the very first Sabres home game in the Aud, provided color commentary to Rick Jeanneret’s play-by-play on the first Sabres cable television broadcast, and was at the table when the team selected the immortal Taro Tsujimoto in the 1974 NHL Draft.
